What is the NTBOA?

The NTBOA stands for the North Texas Basketball Officials Associations. We officiate High School and Middle School basketball games across the North Texas Area.

What is TASO?

TASO stands for the Texas Associations of Sports Officials. This is the governing body for officials in the state of Texas.

Do I have to be certified?

Texas does not have any formal certification process. The local chapters do all training and recruiting of members.

How much does it cost?

There are local dues and chapters dues which run about $100.00 for the first year. Next you have uniform cost. Typical you can get a starter package for around $145.00 this includes shirt, shoes, pants and a whistle.

How do I get paid?

In most cases the school district pays you directly. Most of the time it takes a school about 45 days from the time you worked the game until you get your check in the mail.

What about training?


Our chapter does some of the best training around. We have veteran officials that will work with new member well before the season starts. We also have a mentor program that allows new members to ask questions of older officials throughout the season.

How much do I get paid?

Where are meetings?

Meetings are held at Denton High School in Denton for the 2006-2007 school year.


How do I get assigned games?


We use a scheduling website called the Arbiter.

How many games can I work?

That depends on and your schedule.

Where are games for the NTBOA?

NTBOA covers games over a wide area of the North Texas area. Our assignment secretary tries hard to keep our officials close to their homes.

Where can I get equipment?

The NTBOA provides vendors at almost every meeting and we also have a personal vendor who is an official. You can contact Craig Hooks at 903-814-5200.

What do I need in the way of a uniform?


Black shoe, pants, socks, V-Neck officials shirt and whistle (fox40) and Back lanyard.
