Teams entering the gymnasium prior to the contest should not run through the area occupied by the opposing team or under the basket where opponents are warming up. Where possible, teams should only enter, jog and warm up on their half of the court.
Gatherings intended to motivate a team after the warm-up period, during or following introductions and post-game celebrations should be performed in the area directly in front of the team bench. If during the pre-game or half-time warm-up period, one team leaves the floor, the other team may not use the entire court. Teams should only warm up on their half of the court.
In order to properly enforce this point of emphasis, the UIL has sent out the following information: "When teams arrive on the floor to begin warm up at the beginning of the game and when they come back for the second half of play, please do whatever needs to be done to prevent teams from entering another team's designated side. Technical fouls should NOT be called for teams that violate this rule as we need to stop it before it happens. If you have to put one official in the center circle, one in front of the table, and one opposite the table in a three person crew to keep from happening please do so. In a two person crew one official may be on table side and the other official opposite the table.
Please keep in mind that when entering the court, do so in the normal manner and then you may take your place in the new positions mentioned above. If this procedure is used and once the teams are on their side of the court then the crew should go the normal (NFHS) positions if there are no issues.
The only reason a crew would continue to stay and observe warm-ups from the division line is to stop any developing issues. The main point is to make sure that officials do not think that ALL game conditions will warrant officials to go to the division line and observe teams entering the playing court. Officials should NOT congregate/stand in the center circle aka NBA when utilizing this mechanic.
